A new season of 1·Lectures, the architecture lectures that go beyond the issues of the day, is about to get underway. The Amsterdam Centre for Architecture and the Academy of Architecture Amsterdam are, for the third time, organizing an inspiring Thursday evening of lectures in Amsterdam every two weeks, in which a diverse range of subjects from the international world of architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture will be addressed.
The work of Herman Zeinstra (Dok architects) has a distinctive signature: lucid proportions, expressive use of materials and great attention to detail. Detailed hand-drafted sketches always form part of his design process. In the second 1·Lectures of the season, Zeinstra looks back at the high and low points of his career and discusses his personal favourites.
Herman Zeinstra has received various awards for his work over the years, including the Dino-bokaal (2002) for the éminence grise of Dutch architecture and in 2005 the Zuiderkerkprijs for the best housing project in Amsterdam.
