A new season of 1·Lectures, the architecture lectures that go beyond the issues of the day, is about to get underway. The Amsterdam Centre for Architecture and the Academy of Architecture Amsterdam are, for the third time, organizing an inspiring Thursday evening of lectures in Amsterdam every two weeks, in which a diverse range of subjects from the international world of architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture will be addressed.
Liesbeth Jansen, director of the project office Marineterrein Amsterdam, together with Thijs Meijer, assistant director, talk about the transformation of the Marineterrein. The redevelopment of the Marineterrein is not taking place in the conventional way. Used by the Dutch Royal Navy for 360 years, this 14 hectare site in the centre of Amsterdam is now gradually being given back to the city.
Liesbeth Jansen, who was previously responsible for the transformation of the Westergasfabriek, a former gasworks site, and Thijs Meijer will share their plans for a new and valuable city quarter for the neighbourhood, the city and the country.
Time: Thursday evenings, 8pm
Location: Academy of Architecture Amsterdam, Waterlooplein 213
Tickets: €5,- (single lecture) €35 (passe-partout eight lectures)

In addition, tickets can be purchased at the door from 19:30 on the evening of the lecture itself (if available). University of Architecture students are entitled to free admission on presentation of their student ID card.
