On 9 March, architect Paul de Ruiter lectures about the carbon neutral society, discussing a number of recent projects of his office Paul de Ruiter Architects.
An example of such a project is the plan for the future redevelopment of the Afsluitdijk. The design consists of a sustainability-island. Realized near the Breezanddijk, the island will function as a ‘playground’ for developers to test sustainable innovations. Furthermore, the plan will sustainably improve the Afsluitdijk. By adopting low-carbon solutions, alternative revetments are designed that will stimulate the local ecology.
