A new architecture lecture series in Amsterdam: 1·Lectures
Arcam and the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture are jointly launching ‘1·Lectures‘, a new series of architecture lectures intended for architecture students and all others interested. Experts, icons, newcomers and outsiders are invited to address topics related to architecture, urban and landscape design that are linked to current issues.
The lectures take place on Thursday nights and start at 8 PM at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture, Waterlooplein 211, Amsterdam. Pre-sale tickets (€ 5) can be purchased at Arcam* (opening hours: Tuesday – Sunday 1 – 5 PM). On the evening of the lecture, tickets (€ 5) are sold at the door of the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture from 7.30 PM. A limited number of Academy students have free admission on presentation of a student card. The lectures are in English.
Opening lecture September 11th
Wim de Wagt: World Trade Center
On 9/11, exactly thirteen years after the attacks by al-Qaeda in 2001, architectural historian and author Wim de Wagt commences the series with a lecture on the reconstruction of the World Trade Center in New York. In a story of an hour, with many unique images, he will elaborate on the significance of architecture as an art of remembering.
