Albert Herder & Arie van der Neut (HVDN)

Albert Herder (1960) and Arie van der Neut (1962) both studied at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam, after which Herder set up his own practice and Van der Neut set up in practice with Hans Tupker. They began to work together in 1998 when Herder secured a major commission to design the housing complex De Albatros. In addition to a number of utilitarian buildings, the office has primarily designed housing projects. Recent projects in Amsterdam include School ‘t IJ on IJburg, temporary student dwellings in the Houthavens and housing complex Het Kasteel in the Science Park and De Loodsen on Oostelijke Handelskade.
