We organise two Talks on 15 and 22 February 2019, during our winter break
(No Walks until 29 March 2019)
Architecture Centre Amsterdam introduces you to the history and future of Amsterdam architecture during a lecture and guided tour. Short in time? It is also possible to attend the Architecture Talk or Walk only.
Our Architecture Talk offers a 45-minute introduction lecture to Amsterdam’s rich architectural history. One of our in-house historians will unravel the city’s urban structure from its earliest foundations up until the most recent developments. The Architecture Talk will enhance your understanding of the city’s unique urban fabric and will make you familiar with the Dutch capital’s most significant buildings. Coffee & tea included!
Our Architecture Talk is followed by a guided tour. The two hour Architecture Walk is organised by architour, a local organizer of professional architecture tours. You will discover the architectural highlights in the area, such as the National Maritime Museum, the Central Library and the A’DAM Tower. The tour ends at the iconic EYE Film Museum after a scenic ferry ride crossing the IJ river.
The Architecture Talk & Walk is perfect for architecture lovers who are keen to learn more about the unique history of Amsterdam. We often welcome international architects, student groups and culture-minded tourists. However the Architecture Talk & Walk is also a great opportunity for locals to learn more about their hometown.
Julie C (Tripadvisor, 7 August 2018): “I randomly stumbled upon this Friday walk/talk about 3 hours before it was going to happen! It was the perfect introduction to the city. [..] I was impressed. Afterwards, I ended up doing one of the canal boat tours… and while the views were amazing and different from the architecture tour stops, I got way more information out of the ARCAM and architour experience. Amazing, amazing, amazing.
Jam Levi (Google Reviews, 2017): Great Architour! I learned a lot about Amsterdam from the lecture and the walking tour was very cool. A highlight of my trip for sure.
