Christian Kieckens


Kieckens (1951) graduated from the Sint Lucas Architecture Institute in Ghent in 1974. He has headed his own architectural office in Brussels since 2002 and is a professor at Antwerp Polytechnic. Well-known buildings by Kieckens are the private house Van Hover-De Pus in Baardegem, printing office Salto in Rekem and the students’ centre at the Catholic University of Tilburg. Other projects in the Netherlands include an apartment building on the Ceramique site in Maastricht, an urban villa on the Bergse Plaat in Bergen op Zoom and the interior of the Zeeuws Museum in Middelburg. Kieckens’ work is characterized by the way in which he manages to achieve stunning effects with minimal means such as light and shade.
