Amsterdam is a city with a rich urban history and a lot of exciting new developments. Get a taste of both in just one afternoon. We offer a unique combination of an introductory lecture and a guided tour to contemporary architecture along the waterfront.
The 45-minute Crash Course is a lecture which introduces you to the city and its architecture, from the beginnings to today. After the lecture, a local ‘guiding architect’ from architour will take you on a 2-hour walk from Architecture Centre Amsterdam via the newly opened Marineterrein to Oosterdokseiland (including the new Public Library) and a ferry ride to the northern shore of Het IJ. Your guide will tell you about the rediscovery of the waterfront and the redevelopment of former harbour areas. The walk ends at the iconic EYE Film Institute.
The length of the route is 2 kilometers and it includes a few stairs and bridges.
You can also take the Crash Course without the Guided Tour. For more information click here.
