The Dutch national Architecture Day was on Sunday June 26 2011. That year the theme was ‘personally invented’. The Amsterdam part of the Architecture Day took place in an eastern area of the city, IJburg, made on new islands in the IJmeer water. Here are a lot of ‘personally invented buildings’ found; so called ‘free’ parcels: plots of land designated for development by private clients who select their own architect. From 11 A.M untill 5 P.M. many IJburg buildings were opened to the public.
For 5 euro people bought a passe-partout-book that gave access to the opened buildings and to guided tours. During the special "arcitect-shop" there was a consulting-hour where architects advised the public for free.
