‘Temporary residence’ is the theme of this year’s ‘Architecture Day’, which took place on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 June. On the initiative of the Amsterdam section of the BNA (Association of Dutch Architects) and ARCAM (Amsterdam Centre for Architecture), in Amsterdam the spotlight was on hotel architecture.
A unique weekend getaway feeling in your own city!
The public was given the opportunity to look inside hotels where, generally speaking, only visitors to Amsterdam stay. You could imagine yourself to be a hotel guest by passing the reception, lingering in the lobby or the restaurant and, moreover, by taking a look inside a bedroom or other special space in the hotel.
More than twenty hotels opened their doors for the occasion.
Participating hotels are:
Ambassade Hotel; Amsterdam American Hotel; InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam; Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam; Hotel Arena; NH Barbizon Palace; Black Tulip Hotel; Hans Brinker Budget Hotel; NH Doelen; The Dylan Amsterdam; Hotel de l’Europe; Sofitel The Grand; NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky; Hilton Amsterdam; Lloyd Hotel & Culturele Ambassade; Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre; Hotel Okura Amsterdam; Hotel Pulitzer; Qbic Hotel Amsterdam, Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel; NH Schiller; Stayokay Amsterdam Vondelpark; De Windketel.
