Tomorrow’s elite? Young architects 20 years on

Fourteen young architectural offices were presenting their designs, working methods and visions in ARCAM this winter. They have been selected for this exhibition because they are expected to have a major influence on architectural developments over the next twenty years.
Background: In the autumn of 1983, in the Droogbak in Amsterdam, the first Young Dutch Architects Biennale was organized by Stichting Wonen, the Netherlands Documentation Centre for Architecture and the Architecture Museum Foundation. The organizers’ prediction has proved to be extremely accurate. Most of the architects who were then spotlighted as representatives of a promising new generation of designers (Jan Benthem and Mels Crouwel, Jo Coenen, Frits van Dongen, John Körmeling, Sjoerd Soeters, Koen van Velsen and others) belong to today’s elite. For this reason, twenty years later, ARCAM has made a selection of young, talented architects who are currently working in the Netherlands.
Blue Architects, daf-architecten, GroupFor Architecture, Architectenbureau Micha de Haas, Architectenbureau K2, Atelier Kempe Thill, krill, MADE Architecten, Maurer United Architects, NEXT architects, onix, Pero Puljiz + Branimir Medic, S333 en Wingender Hovenier Architecten presented themselves.
