Four star hotel with 553 beds

On the west side of Oosterdokseiland, a stone’s throw from Centraal Station, a four star hotel, with various cafes and restaurants and luxury suites with their own terrace, is being built around a green inner garden courtyard.

The design by the London-based architectural office Bennetts Associates displays striking angles and indentations, which derive from the master plan for Oosterdokseiland by Erik van Egeraat Associates. The 553 bed hotel exploits the views over the water and the spectacular panorama of the historic city centre to the full. The elevations are composed of panels of wood, glass and metal, brick elements and moving canopies, giving rise to a layered and ambiguous image. The hotel makes use of the parking garage that has been built underneath the island. (ARCAM/DW)
