Concrete structure, brick elevations, aluminium window framesThe Gerben Wagenaarbrug and the Wagenaar house in Amsterdam Noord were built in 1965, to a design by Enrico Hartsuyker, as part of the plans for the IJtunnel. The square brick tower stands between the North Holland Canal and IJtunnelweg. It functions as a bridge control building and also houses the tunnel master. The bridgemaster looks out over the canal through a horizontal window on the first floor, while on the top floor the tunnel master looks out through a horizontal window on the other side of the building at the IJtunnels north entrance.
