On Offer: Three Architecture Guides
Three Architectural Guides with a total of 13 walking and cycle routes through Amsterdam South, East and IJburg are now on offer for a total of €20,00!
The Architecture Guides of Architecture Centre Amsterdam will take you on a journey through the architectural and urban developments of the twentieth and twenty-first century in Amsterdam.
The Architecture Guide Eastern Docklands is a dual-language publication about the famous former dock area in Amsterdam which was transformed in the early 1990s into what is now one of the city’s most popular residential districts.
On the south side of Amsterdam are three unique areas of the city. Plan Zuid, based on H.P. Berlage’s urban plan of 1915, exhibits the features of a monumental showpiece, with housing blocks in the famous Amsterdam School style. Buitenveldert, built around 1960, is an excellent example of functionalist town planning, characterized by a spacious, regular and rectilinear layout. Between these two areas is the Zuidas, a compact mixed-use district in the making, with high-rise buildings designed by celebrated Dutch and foreign architects.
The architectural guide to IJburg is an excellent tool for exploring Amsterdam’s most recent urban expansion area. Three routes, over Steigereiland, Haveneiland West & Kleine Rieteiland and Haveneiland Oost & Rieteiland Oost, take in architectural highlights, numerous bridges, colourful streets and spectacular viewing points.
The Guides are also for sale individually in our webshop or at Architecture Centre Amsterdam for €7,50 per guide.
